Day 2 (Burgos to Hontanas – 32km)

We left Burgos at 6:30, I mean 7:00, ahem 7:30. Practically on time.

We could see our lunch stop an hour before we arrived there. Cafe con leche was just in reach.

Most of the day other pilgrims were behind us and I said to Don, They’re gaining. To which Don replied, Inconceivable. At least there weren’t electric eels.

It’s the end of the first day I have to admit, we’re super tired and each have one sore shoulder. What the hell were we thinking? Tonight it’s an aubergue. Wish us luck.

Camino 2015 – Day 1

We arrived in Burgos this afternoon and like good pilgrims, stopped for beers in the main square. The cathedral is as massive as it looks. We met a fellow living in Spain teaching English who’d decided to blog about the Camino in his spare time. We were his first candidates and with good humour he stuck with his “interview” even after we told him we’d literally arrived 30 minutes prior.

Good thing we booked a hotel for our first night, as the auberge was full, as we’d anticipated. Nevertheless they gave us our credential del Peregrino and I bought a poncho – oh yes it will be raining tomorrow.

Don wants us to get up at 6am, I’m skeptical.
